If fresher is better, then Glacier Homemade Ice Cream is, ahem, the best. With an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients and handmade cones, Glacier has created over 1,000 artisanal flavors since opening their doors in 2001. A true crowdpleaser, the Glacier team regularly fields flavor ideas from regular and rabid ice cream fans. They’re also known for partnering with fellow local brands, using ingredients from cupcakes to craft beer, to concoct new flavors. Kate Busse, manager for Glacier Home Made Ice Cream & Gelato, is proud of her business’s local roots. “First and foremost, we’d like to emphasize that we’ve been in Boulder for 15 years,” she said. Given the unique, tasty treats offered, it’s hardly surprising that they’ve done well.
Busse explains that the Glacier team is constantly seeking out new and different flavors, stating, “We’ll try anything once.” Some of the standouts on their current menu include Funky Donkey, a peanut butter ice cream with fudge and Oreos, and Coffee Caramel Crunch, which also features Oreos, this time blended into coffee ice cream with caramel swirls.
